Clinically studied for stress relief
Now, modern clinical trials show ashwagandha extracts are able to support a wide range of benefits, including a healthy stress response, memory health and cognition, overall well being and more.
In a randomized controlled trial, 64 stressed individuals were given either an ashwagandha extract or a placebo. After 60 days, the 32 participants who took the ashwagandha extract reported reductions stress and had lower cortisol levels than those who had received the placebo. The ashwagandha group also saw significant improvement in levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This confirmed the results from an earlier controlled clinical trial in which ashwagandha supplementation improved stress and cortisol levels.
Ashwagandha and memory health
An eight week placebo controlled clinical trial showed that ashwagandha extract improved both short term and general memory as well as attention and information processing speed.
A two week, controlled clinical trial found that those receiving ashwagandha had quicker reaction times and improved test scores measuring cognitive and neurological performance.
