Detox: What and How?
Each day we are exposed to a wide range of chemicals that can go from non-toxic to extremely toxic on the toxicity chart. We either inhale these chemicals through the polluted air we get to breathe or ingest it through contaminated food. These chemicals/toxins (as they are harmful to our body) get accumulated inside our body over the years and give rise to diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and more. Our body retaliates upon the consumption of such chemicals and tries to remove it from the system. This process of removing toxic substances from a human body or any living organism is known as detoxification.
Natural Detoxification
Our body has its own detoxification system that is both proactive and retroactive. There are several ways in which our body either prevents the intake of toxins or removes them from our body.
Skin – It is the first defense of our body against environmental pollutants. It also removes the toxins from our body in the form of sweat.
Cardiovascular System – It carries toxins and waste products to the lungs, kidney, liver, and spleen so they can be removed from the body.
Respiratory System – Our mouth and nose keep a large number of toxins, pathogens, and dust from entering our body. Lungs not only remove CO2 from the body but can also create mucus to capture and cough-out dust and pathogens.
Liver – It pulls toxins from the blood, breaks them down, and transfers it to kidneys and digestive tract for excretion.
Spleen – It detects viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens in the blood and creates white blood cells to kill them.
Kidneys – Waste and toxins are removed from the fluid that moves through our kidneys and are expelled from the body in the form of urine.
Colon – It absorbs the water and mineral left in the digested food and pushes the remainder out of the body as feces.
Detox Programs
We have little to worry when our body’s detoxification system is functioning properly. But, it gets compromised now and then, sometimes because of high-cholesterol and at other times just because of some pathogens entering our bloodstream. A detox program helps the natural detoxification of our body by:
- Giving rest to our organs, mainly through fasting on fresh juice
- Improving blood circulation
- Taking healthy and nutritional food
- Stimulating the liver for detoxifying blood
- Promoting elimination of toxins through skin, kidneys, and intestines
There are several diet plans that facilitate natural detoxification of our body over a certain number of days. But the focus remains solely on reducing the workload of our organs at first and then optimizing their functioning by eating healthy food.
Supplements
With increasing awareness about overall health, there are many natural supplements on the market that support the body as it goes through detox. Products like the Renew Life Rapid Cleanse and Renew Life Cleanse Smart support the body’s natural detoxification process without making many changes in your diet.
Greens are also vital detoxification tools when getting back to your body’s natural wellness state. A healthy greens diet will enable the body to maintain key nutrient balance. We recommend you speak to our wellness experts for advice to suit your dietary needs. As always, we recommend you check with a physician before jumping on any fast or nutritional plan.
