Life Extension TMG (500 mg) -- 60 Vegetarian Capsules
- Life Extension TMG helps control and/or lower homocysteine levels in your body, which improves heart and cardiovascular health.
- Trimethylglycine (TMG) contains 3 methyl groups attached to each molecule of glycine.
- Trimethylglycine works along a pathway almost identical to that of vitamin B12.
- Studies show that when 360 milligrams or more per day are consumed, homocysteine levels were lowered by 10% on average.
Life Extension Trimethylglycine (TMG) Can Lower Homocysteine Levels and Promote Optimal Heart and Cardiovascular Health
Trimethylglycine or TMG, can also be referred to as glycine betaine. The name trimethylglycine means it contains three methyl groups bonded to each molecule of glycine. Trimethylglycine was discovered in the late 1950's due to its benefits for your heart health. TMG works along a pathway almost identical to that of vitamin B12. TMG is a "methyl donor", which means it provides extra methyl groups to improve the transformation of homocysteine back to its precursor methionine. When a TMG methyl group is donated to a molecule of homocysteine, it is then converted to the non-toxic amino acid, methionine.
Research has shown trimethylglycine's ability to assist in giving your body healthier levels of homocysteine, whether alone or in conjunction with other nutrients. This confirms its importance as a vital nutrient for promoting cardiovascular and heart health. An example of this was shown in a recent cross-sectional survey study which showed that its participants who consumed more than 360 mg a day of TMG had, on average, 10% lower concentrations of homocysteine and 19% lower concentrations of C-reactive protein than those who consumed less than 260 milligrams a day.
